Queen Margaret University's new campus formally opened on 4th July 2008. More than 5,000 students and staff were moved to the new location, which is situated at Craighall, to the east of Edinburgh.

This immense £105 million project has produced a brand-new exciting campus, complete with 800-bed student accommodation. The campus' environmentally-friendly infrastructure has been designed to reduce the impact on the surrounding countryside. The campus is also enabled with up-to-date IT facilities, using thin-client technology.

The City of Edinburgh

The new campus is situated on the eastern outskirts of Edinburgh, just beside the seaside town of Musselburgh.

The campus is very easy to access by train, as it is next to Musselburgh Station. The rail service from Edinburgh Waverley to Musselburgh takes only six minutes.

Edinburgh blends inspiring ancient architecture with a lively modern atmosphere. It has many historical sites, with Edinburgh castle being the most popular.

Edinburgh has a lot to offer: libraries, galleries, museums, cinemas, shops, clubs, pubs, restaurants, concert venues, theatres, sports facilities and much more.

Why Choose Queen Margaret University?

Modern New Campus

Queen Margaret University has a brand-new campus with high-tech infrastructure and beautiful open spaces. The new campus includes student accommodation, a student union building, indoor sports facilities, food outlets, a shop and stunning gardens.

Good Employment Prospects

Queen Margaret University places particular importance on relevant teaching, with courses updated based on the changing requirements of society. As a result, Queen Margaret University had a 93% employment rate for its graduates, as published by the Guardian University Guide 2011.

Friendly Environment

Students studying at Queen Margaret University will feel more than just a statistic. Having a small student cohort of 4,000, freshmen won't be lost in the crowd. Its size means that everyone seems to run into one another every now and then, giving students lots of chances to meet and make friends.

Actively Environmentally-Friendly

Queen Margaret University believes in being eco-friendly. Its Re:Use project is organized every year and concerns the recycling of used items such as kitchen utensils, books and electrical products. Already, this has saved more than 18 tonnes of waste from the rubbish dump. It also provides a chance for new students to buy the stuff they need at exceptionally low prices.

Impressive Learning Facilities

Queen Margaret University has specially-fitted professional laboratories and clinics for podiatry, radiography, occupational therapy and physiotherapy. The nursing simulation lab is built exactly like a hospital ward, to help students adjust effortlessly and confidently to their future occupation.
